EnAct

Hands-on guidance for independent living. EnAct takes a vision-impaired person from "describe the scene" all the way to guiding the hand safely to the target.

The impact

Independence in everyday tasks

EnAct lets vision-impaired users follow clear, executable guidance to interact with their environment on their own. Activities like cooking, cleaning, and reaching, which often required another person, become things they can do alone.

The gap

Describing a scene isn't guiding a hand

Independent living means daily object-reaching, grasping an apple, finding a cup. Without precise spatial awareness, even simple reaches knock things over, make messes, or pose safety risks. Existing assistive tools can describe a scene, but offer little for the physical act of interaction, so users still depend on a caregiver's help.

Prototype

See it working

A working prototype plans a safe path, then guides the hand to the target while avoiding collisions in real time.
