Call for Users

We're running studies of our assistive-AI products with the people they're built for: testing whether guided reaching, gaze communication, and haptic sports access genuinely restore independence in everyday life.

Register your interest to hear about sessions opening near you. Participation is always voluntary.

"I'm totally blind. After I lost the support of my caregiver, everyday tasks at home became much more difficult. EnAct helps me understand my surroundings, locate the things I need, and guides me as I reach for them. I can't always ask my neighbors for help, so having guidance when I need it gives me more confidence and independence."

Act · EnAct

People with low vision or blindness

That's the one I tell people about. I dropped a cup and couldn't tell where it went, and usually that means leaving it there and waiting for somebody. It said by my right foot, and it kept talking until I had it. Picked it up myself.

It is slow. I will say that first, because I expected it to be quick, and you do have to hold still and wait for it. What it does is bring my hand to my keys from the side of the table instead of straight over the top, so I am not knocking over two things to get to one. For me that trade is worth it.

My daughter puts my mug in the same spot every morning, bless her, so I can always find it. Then one morning somebody had moved it. I nearly shouted upstairs for her, the way I always do. I asked this instead. It said the mug was behind the kettle, on my left, and walked my hand around the kettle to it. It is not a big thing. I would just rather not have to ask.

Express · Just Look

People with ALS or limited speech

Letter by letter. I lose the thought before the word ends. Now I look, and it gets it. My family heard me finish a sentence.
Just Look study participant
Some days the word is not there at all. A keyboard cannot spell a word I cannot remember, it just waits. Looking at the thing is a way around that. It does not fix the word. It gets me past it.
Just Look study participant
With the old keyboard I'd spend the whole visit looking at letters instead of at people, and by the time I got my answer out they'd moved on to something else and it didn't fit anywhere, so I'd just delete it. Now I get it out while they're still on the same subject. My son says I interrupt him now. I'll take that.

Sense · Feel the Ball

Fans who are blind or hard of hearing

I always cheered a beat after everybody else, because I was waiting to hear the room react. That night I felt the ball move in my hand and I was up out of my seat at the same time as the rest of them. Same time, not after.
Feel the Ball study participant
It's better on fast play than slow. When they're just passing it around up top I don't get much from it. But a break, a shot, a turnover, that comes through my hand while it's happening instead of from somebody telling me after.
Feel the Ball study participant
My grandson usually ends up telling me what's going on the whole time. He's good about it, but he's a kid, he wants to watch the game. This time I followed it myself and he got to just sit and eat his hot dog.
